And the rising demand for attorneys to review vast stores of documents generated by click-of-a-button, lightning-fast contemporary e-commerce is also giving rise to law firms engaging in more electronically grounded commerce themselves as they advise and assist clients in meeting requirements of routine document review, storage and disposal as part of regular business, and the specifics of electronic discovery.

Even the essential mode of this sort of e-commerce can produce more commerce ' in the billable hours and personnel needed to tackle the job. Considering that the timeline for reviews can be extremely long, requiring attorneys to spend months sifting through information or very short, at times requiring firms to use contract attorneys to scale up to several times their original staffs' size to meet deadlines and, either way, technology is facilitating the commerce of business, and of law.
