Snapchat Settles With FTC on Privacy Assurance

Snapchat messages are not nearly as ephemeral as the company promised, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) alleged in an administrative lawsuit against the app maker on May 8.

Simultaneously filed and settled, the suit accuses Snapchat of misleading its users ' who transmit about 350 million photos and videos daily ' by claiming unequivocally that the messages “disappear forever.” (A PDF of the complaint is available on the FTC website at http://1.usa.gov/1k1Ox9q.)
