Nixon Peabody LLP has announced that William D. Pegg has been named a partner in the firm's Chicago office. Pegg counsels both foreign and domestic clients on matters related to the procurement and exploitation of intellectual property rights in the United States. His practice encompasses all aspects of patent prosecution and client counseling, including the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, the handling of proceedings before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences, the rendering of non-infringement, invalidity, and clearance opinions, and the counseling of clients on issues such as infringement avoidance, due diligence reviews, and licensing. Pegg's practice also includes litigation support, including technical and legal analysis, and the drafting of motions, briefs, and pretrial documents. Before pursuing his law degree, Pegg was a mechanical engineer and inspector for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Life sciences and medical device corporate lawyer Stephen Thau has joined Morrison & Foerster LLP as co-chair of the firm's international Life Sciences Group and will work out of the firm's Palo Alto office.
