The National Law Journal, a sister publication of this newsletter, reports that several of the nation's largest law firms are boosting their paid leave for lawyers who become new parents. Twenty-four firms have either increased maternity leave to 18 weeks or increased their paid paternity leave. This is one of the most significant moves to recognize the changing needs of today's parenting-age workforce.

Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP has elected Brock Gibson to become chairman of the firm, effective Jan. 1, 2009. He will replace Jim Christie who will have served as chairman for eight years, the maximum term permitted by the firm's partnership agreement.

DuPont named Potter Anderson & Corroon LLP the only Delaware law firm to receive a DuPont 2007 Challenge Award at its Primary Law Firm Annual Meeting. 'Potter Anderson is deserving of recognition for its outstanding legal work, its involvement in and support of the DuPont legal initiatives, and its adherence to the highest ideal of the DuPont Legal Model,' said Stacey J. Mobley, DuPont's Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer.
