He will focus on regulatory and litigation matters. Previously, Masoudi was chief counsel of the Food and Drug Administration. He earned his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.
Heather Podesta + Partners (Washington, DC): Mary Beth Stanton has moved to the Washington government relations firm Heather Podesta + Partners, where she will represent clients in the financial services, health care and education industries. Stanton had been a managing director for Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal's public law and policy strategies group. She earned her master's degree in history and public policy from George Washington University.
Akerman Senterfitt (Denver; Tallahassee, FL; Washington, DC): The firm has added two shareholders and two of counsel to its health care team, plus a consultant. In 1987, a unanimous Court of Appeals reaffirmed the vitality of the "stranger to the deed" rule, which holds that if a grantor executes a deed to a grantee purporting to create an easement in a third party, the easement is invalid. Daniello v. Wagner, decided by the Second Department on November 29th, makes it clear that not all grantors (or their lawyers) have received the Court of Appeals' message, suggesting that the rule needs re-examination.
