Whitney Equipment Finance LLC has announced the appointment of Jim Bates as senior vice president and operations manager. Bates most recently served as senior regional credit portfolio manager at SunTrust Equipment Finance and Leasing in Baltimore. Whitney Equipment Finance is the newly formed equipment finance company at Hancock Bank and Whitney Bank, which are part of Hancock Holding Company's Gulf South financial services family. The new company serves middle-market and corporate clients.

Global Jet Capital of Boca Raton, FL has agreed to purchase the aircraft lease and loan portfolio of GE Capital Corporate Aircraft in the Americas representing approximately $2.5 billion of net assets. Global Jet Capital, a provider of financing solutions for large-cabin, long-range private jets, was formed last year and is capitalized by three global investment firms.
