Cybersecurity litigator Michael Morgan has joined McDermott Will & Emery 's Los Angeles office. He becomes co-leader of McDermott's Privacy and Data Protection practice. He represents companies in litigation matters involving cybersecurity, privacy and protection of consumer and business data. He also advises on cyber incident preparation and response; compliance with U.S. and EU laws and regulations; completion of enterprise-wide cybersecurity assessments; and data security policies and best practices. Morgan joins McDermott from the LA office of Jones Day. He previously worked as vice president and general counsel of Epic Cycle, a Web app development company.
Day Pitney announced the addition of Jed Davis as a partner in its government enforcement and white-collar criminal defense practice. Davis will be based in New York and will focus on cybersecurity, data protection and related issues. He previously served as the assistant district attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and assistant U.S. attorney in the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York, where he was the computer hacking and intellectual property coordinator. Davis noted that his move to Day Pitney was a part of the “natural progression and development from what has now become traditional white-collar criminal investigations to cyber-related legal assistance to clients.”
