Consultants Lose Bid for Percentage of Record Label

By Greg Land
December 01, 2021

A successful Atlanta-based hip-hop and R&B label beat back the efforts of a Los Angeles consulting firm to lay claim to hundreds of thousands of dollars and a large chunk of the company itself, when a jury declared that the record company owed the consultants less than $3,500. LVRN Publishing LLC v. Kashani, 2019CV316416.

The Fulton County, GA, jury also awarded LVRN Records — popularly known as Love Renaissance — $50,000 for money the consultants pocketed meant for the label, but its lawyers said they were likely to seek attorney fees for having to defend counterclaims seeking a 12.5% share of the company.
